Kiwi lock Sorenson made an instant impact since joining the Falcons in the autumn of 2006 from New Zealand province Bay of Plenty.
Voted the Bay’s best forward in the 2006 Air New Zealand Cup, the abrasive lock provides a steadying influence in the line out and the tight phases.
Formerly part of the Chiefs Super 14 training squad, Sorenson played against the 2005 British and Irish Lions as Bay of Plenty gave them a real scare in a tight and tension-filled encounter.
Having enjoyed a successful first season with Newcastle in the Guinness Premiership, Sorenson signed a new three-year contract in the summer of 2007.
