The former All Black centre will be with the Falcons until December 2007, having agreed an extension to his time at the club to cover for absences during the Rugby World Cup.
Throughout his time at Kingston Park Mayerhofler has providied steady leadership and physical defence, as well as a good left foot kicking option in midfield.
The Kiwi brings with him vast experience, having won the Super 12 title three times with the Crusaders in successive years between 1998 and 2000.
An unfussy but supremely consistent performer, Mayerhofler scored four tries in his 16 starts during the 2004/5 season, a campaign which saw him miss ten weeks early on with a broken leg, from which he recovered well.
Capped six times by the All Blacks, Mayerhofler has also appeared for the famous New Zealand Maori side and the New Zealand Barbarians.
