2 May 2007, 3:32 pm
England Saxons scrum half Lee Dickson will captain the Falcons Sevens squad at Kingston Park this Sunday, as part of the North East Property Buyers Newcastle Festival of Rugby.
The 22-year-old captains a strong Falcons team aiming to win its third tournament in successive weekends after recent victories in Hawick and Langholm.

The main Falcons 7s this Sunday brings to an end a newly-expanded five-day Newcastle Festival of Rugby, which also incorporates the Northumberland County 7s, Social 7s, Girls’ 7s, Women’s 7s, Schools 7s, Tag Rugby and the Northumberland Plate final.

Joining Dickson in the Falcons squad is England Sevens cap Ollie Phillips, while Dutchman Tim Visser and England Under-19s centre Alex Tait are also among the ten-man squad for the tournament.

The hosts have been pooled alongside tough Fijian outfit Kaiviti Crusaders, while Tynedale and the invitational Templars team are also in their group.

The other side of the draw sees Scottish sides Boroughmuir and Biggar joined by Canterbury Crew and the British Army’s ‘Tigers’ team comprising a host of top Fijian players.

Tickets for the main event on Sunday are only £5 for adults, with a host of entertainment and facilities lined up to go alongside the high-paced, free-scoring Sevens action.

As well as the Falcons hot tub and cheerleaders there will be inflatables for the kids, RFU roadshow, Metz experience, Nando’s chicken stand and Falcons legend Richard Arnold manning his infamous BBQ tent.

The ever-popular Falcons Legends exhibition game sees a host of Kingston Park stars of yesteryear take to the field.

The Hiding Place bars will be open throughout the day with happy hour offers and various promotions, on what promises to be a weekend of fun in the sun on and off the field.

Tickets are available by calling 0871 226 60 60, or on the day from the Kingston Park ticket office. Sunday’s action gets underway from 11.30am.
