Newcastle Falcons will go back to school on Wednesday, as they prepare for the visit of Saracens.
The Falcons will train on the recently-installed state-of-the-art synthetic pitch at County Durham’s Houghton Kepier School, in readiness for Friday’s Premiership clash.

Director of rugby, John Fletcher, said: “I went down to see the pitch earlier this year, and was hugely impressed by the quality of the facilities the school has.

“Houghton Kepier have been kind enough to allow us to come down and do a session on the synthetic field, which is the first in the region to be approved by the International Rugby Board, and we feel it will be invaluable in allowing us some quality preparation going in to such an important game.

“As well as being an outstanding surface it also represents a chance for us to break the routine of training at the same venues every week, as we keep the players focused and fresh for Friday’s game.”

Fletcher’s men will be hoping to extend their four-month unbeaten run at home against fifth-placed Saracens, having defeated London Wasps 37-11 in their last Kingston Park outing.

Tickets for the game are still available by calling 0871 226 60 60, or popping to Kingston Park during office hours and on the night.
