Newcastle Falcons wing Tim Visser has signed a new two-year deal, keeping him at Kingston Park until the end of the 2008/9 season.
The 19-year-old Dutchman burst on to the Guinness Premiership scene this autumn with a match-winning try on his debut against Worcester Warriors, going on to score in his next two games.

The former RC Hilversum player has made a total of 11 first team appearances this season, scoring four tries, as well as being included in the RFU National Academy ahead of his qualification for England this coming September.

Visser made his way to Kingston Park after being spotted playing in the Amsterdam Sevens by current Newcastle team-mate Joe Shaw, going on to spend two years at Barnard Castle in County Durham, where he went on to represent England Schools.

Rugby certainly runs in the family, with younger brother Sep currently representing Holland in the AER Under-18s European Championship, while dad Marc is the most-capped Dutch player of all time.

Falcons director of rugby, John Fletcher, said: “Tim is an exciting talent who has progressed well this season.

“With more game experience and physical maturity he will be a force in what is a very strong Newcastle back line.

“Tim is quick, elusive and tough. At six foot three and over 16 stone he offers the team a real threat in the outside backs.”

Visser joins a whole host of backs to have signed new contracts for next season, including Toby Flood, Jamie Noon, Mathew Tait, Hall Charlton and Mark Mayerhofler.
