| The Falcons’ first match in the tournament is at 1.25pm when they tackle the Quins, followed by their meeting with Sale in what is the last of all the pool matches at 2.45pm.
The Falcons need to finish in the top two of their group to make the quarter-finals, with all 12 Guinness Premiership clubs represented on the day.
The Newcastle team will be coached by junior academy manager Mark Laycock, who has made a name for himself as somewhat of a Sevens specialist with a massive trophy haul in the past season for both the Falcons and the KooGa Wailers.
“Our squad will contain a nucleus of the players who have helped us become so successful this season on the Sevens stage,” said Laycock, who is himself close to a return to fitness after breaking his leg playing for Tynedale last January.
“As a club we have traditionally enjoyed Sevens, using it to develop a number of our talented young players, and all the boys are looking forward to playing at Twickenham when the Middlesex Sevens comes around.”
The Falcons’ Sevens victories this season include the Hawick and Langholm events, both for the third year running, as well as winning their own Kingston Park competition and narrowly losing in a pulsating final of the Melrose Sevens.
The Wailers, meanwhile, containing a host of young Falcons, won this season’s Rome Sevens and Kinsale Sevens. They will again be in action on August 4 when they take part in the Swansea Sevens.
