Newcastle Falcons have had a quartet of backs named in the England Six Nations training squad, as well as a maiden England Saxons call-up for prop David Wilson.
The 33-man England squad for the upcoming Six Nations includes Jamie Noon, Toby Flood, Jonny Wilkinson and Mathew Tait, with their first match being against Scotland on February 3.

South-Shields-born front rower Wilson (21) receives his first call-up to the England second string, now rebranded as ‘Saxons’ for their upcoming two games against Italy A (February 2, Exeter Chiefs), and Ireland A (February 9, Belfast).

Wilson helped England to the Under-21s Grand Slam last season, and has made 34 appearances for the Falcons so far.

“I’m delighted for all the players who have been called in to the various national squads,” said Falcons director of rugby, John Fletcher.

“I am a fiercely patriotic person and wish our four boys all the best for their time with England, and for David Wilson with the Saxons.”
