| The director of rugby said: “It's great to see a north-east side do well in any sport, but to reach a domestic final at Lords will really be a special day for Durham and its supporters.
“I am a huge admirer of Durham as a club and an organisation, and there are a lot of parallels between them and ourselves.
“We both entered the professional arena at roughly the same time in the 1990s, and have steadily built using predominantly local talent.
“When I was academy manager at the Falcons Geoff Cook was in charge of the Durham academy and we shared a lot of the same values and beliefs, so I'm pleased for Geoff and everyone else involved with Durham that they now have this great chance to claim some silverware for the region.
“The north-east has a great cup final tradition in football and rugby of big days out in London, and I'm sure all Falcons supporters will join me in wishing Durham well at Lords on August 18.”
