Jonny Wilkinson captains England
1 June 2007, 4:44 pm
Newcastle Falcons will be at the heart of England's attack against the Springboks on Saturday, with captain Jonny Wilkinson insisting there is plenty to play for.
The fly half is one of four Falcons in the England back line on the day, and said going in to the game: "It's important that we don't  look back at this tour and think that we didn't get something positive out of it.

"We must have something to take with us when we fly out and ahead of our Rugby World Cup training camp, which starts at the end of June, three weeks after we return from the summer tour.

"I've enjoyed working with the whole squad and players like Mark Regan are guys who relish the kind of atmosphere we can expect on Saturday against South Africa. There are some questions being asked of this squad and we all know we must step up to the mark. When things are going well it's fine but things aren't it's a bigger test."

Club mate Toby Flood lines up in the No.12 shirt, saying: "We saw the stadium for the first time today and it's very impressive. Although it's used mainly for club rugby (The Bulls) it's an international standard stadium as well and I'm looking forward to playing there on Saturday.

"We're all hoping it goes well for us and I'm looking forward to playing alongside Jonny as captain.

"He is an inspirational guy who is constantly encouraging and chirping away at us to play and he will lead from the front. As captain he won't have to turn to anyone if he decides to take a kick at goal!

"None of us we're pleased with the result last weekend, but we have had a good week in training. We all know what a big step up international rugby is, and we want to do some positive things on Saturday."

Mathew Tait and Jamie Noon complete the Newcastle contingent in the back line, with Noon relishing his return to international rugby after sitting out the first Test in Bloemfontein.

"It's the first time I will have worn the '14' shirt for England and the first time I would have played alongside Jonny for my country even though this will be my 24th cap," he said.

"It seems like a long time ago since I last wore the shirt of England and I'm just looking forward to the game. I'm really excited about the match and the stadium is awesome with a nice quick, flat track."
