| The 22-year-old Stockton-born second row came through the Falcons academy, and having made his first team debut in the 2003/4 season has gone on to start 19 times, with a further 19 appearances from the bench.
This season has seen Parling emerge as a first team regular, making 16 starts and five replacement outings, with forwards coach Peter Walton stating: “Geoff is developing in to a very fine player.
“He is a level-headed character on the field and has made a significant impact this season, but realises he still has plenty of work to do in improving his game even further.
“I’ve coached Geoff for a number of years in the academy and there is no doubt he has the talent to develop as a player, so we are delighted to have him with us for at least the next two seasons.”
Parling, who has represented England right through the age-group system, said on signing his new deal: “To have another two years at the club is fantastic.
“I’ve worked hard to improve my game and to force my way in to the squad over the last couple of seasons, but working with Peter Walton and the other coaches, as well as the club’s senior players, I’m determined to carry on that progression and help us compete for silverware.
“Newcastle is definitely the right place to do that with the squad we have at the moment, and the faith the club is showing in local youngsters has been a massive confidence boost for all of us.”
