Newcastle Falcons teamed up with county and area coaches from Under-13s to Under-20s at Kingston Park on Monday night, in part of the club’s continuing relationship with the local scene.
Around 20 coaches from the Durham and Northumberland county sides, as well as the North of England teams, were at Kingston Park to see a presentation from Falcons academy manager John Fletcher on long-term athlete development.

The coaches then saw video analysis based around the scrum and line out, with Fletcher saying: “It’s really important for us, as the region’s professional club, to work with the counties and to share ideas.

“These are the coaches who will be bringing through the talented local players along with ourselves, so it’s fantastic that we have such a good working relationship with them.

“The workshop on Monday was part of an ongoing programme, and we hope to have at least three of these a season for Durham and Northumberland, as well as going over to Cumbria and doing the same there.”
