| The student competition comes on top of the previously announced elite event and the Northumberland County Sevens, which are all being held at Kingston Park and the adjacent Bullocksteads ground.
The Student 7s will be open to all universities and colleges providing all players are current students, with a beer prize up for grabs on the day. Places are available for teams by emailing mark.foster@newcastle-falcons.co.uk
The competition forms part of the day-long tournament sponsored by Spinnaka, being organised by Falcons wing Tom May and former team mate Martin Shaw along with the Northumberland Rugby Union and Northumbria University.
Entrance applications for the main Sevens competition are going well, with the first batch of teams to be announced shortly.
The Northumberland County Sevens will also be an integral part of the day, with proceeds going to the Ali Johnson Fund, in aid of the Tynedale prop who suffered severe neck injuries while representing his club.
