The Falcons celebrate the 97/98 Premiership title
8 February 2006, 4:17 pm
Voting has been extended in the Newcastle Rugby Hall of Fame vote, following enormous interest in the club’s online poll.
After receiving more than 2,000 votes already, fans now have until February 17 to whittle the list of 12 players from the professional era down to four in the final period of voting, with the top two then inducted at the inaugural Newcastle Rugby Hall of Fame Dinner on March 3.

Voting is currently tight, with the top five players (in no particular order) being Richard Arnold, Gary Armstrong, Rob Andrew, Inga Tuigamala and Doddie Weir.

Other contenders for the vote are also rapidly garnering support, George Graham, Nick Popplewell, Tony Underwood, Dean Ryan, Pat Lam, John Bentley and Alan Tait.

As well as the professional inductees, figures from the club’s amateur days will also be selected for the Hall of Fame, with the dinner at Kingston Park already sold out due to popular demand.
