| Director of rugby, Rob Andrew, said: “We all know the English club season is extremely exhausting for the players, so we felt it important that they should get at least some chance to relax a little and come back recharged for this week, which is why we cancelled all of our team training sessions.
“Some of the lads have been doing bits and pieces in the gym, but we are back together today and putting all our attentions in to what will be a tough game against London Irish this Sunday.”
The men from Kingston Park travel to face the Exiles in the Guinness Premiership, while a number of Falcons players were away on international duty in the last week.
Centre Jamie Noon and Colin Charvis continue to be with their respective Test sides following the England v Wales Six Nations clash on Saturday – Noon’s England running out 47-13 winners at Twickenham.
Fly half Dave Walder came on from the bench for England A on Friday night as they defeated Italy A in Colleferro, scoring two conversions in the 57-13 triumph.
Walder reported for club duty on Monday, and will be available for this weekend’s trip to the Madejski Stadium.
England Sevens pair Ollie Phillips and Mathew Tait were slightly further afield as they helped England to the Plate title at the IRB Sevens tournament in Wellington, New Zealand. Both players now fly to America, for this weekend’s tournament in Los Angeles.
Friday night saw wing James Hoyle and prop David Wilson form part of the England Under-21s team as they defeated their Welsh counterparts at Worcester in the first round of age-group Six Nations matches, running out 26-18 victors despite being without injured Newcastle half backs Lee Dickson and Toby Flood.
The other Falcon away on representative duty at the weekend was Academy No.8 Greg Irvin, with the Durham University man forming part of the England Students team beaten 41-6 by France at Twickenham on Saturday evening.
