Falcons skipper Phil Dowson scored on his comeback
8 January 2008, 4:08 pm
Club captain Phil Dowson made a scoring return for the Falcons Development Team on Monday, as he grabbed one of four tries in a 35-30 victory over Leeds Carnegie.
The No.8 started the game as he made his comeback from medial knee ligament damage, as the Falcons kept their unbeaten home run going in the Guinness A League.

There was a bonus point on the night for the hosts, as fellow back rower Eni Gesinde also crossed the try line, with centre Rob Miller scoring either side of half time to secure the points.

Coach Ian Peel said afterwards: “That was an outstanding game of rugby, and although Leeds gave us a scare with a couple of quick tries near the end, we were ultimately worth the victory.

“Having Phil Dowson back is obviously good news for the club, and he played the first half scoring a fantastic try, but there were a lot of strong performances all around the field.

“Oliver Tomazszcyk at prop was man of the match, but we played some fast open rugby and scored some excellent tries.”

The Falcons are in action again this coming Monday, as Leicester Tigers visit Druid Park (kick-off 7pm). Entry is free for all supporters.
