Falcons and Scotland Under-20s scrum half Ross Samson
7 February 2008, 11:07 am
Newcastle Falcons pair Ross Samson and Lewis Calder both start for Scotland Under-20s on Friday, as they face Wales Under-20s at Newport’s Rodney Parade.
Openside flanker Calder again captains the young Scots, who fell narrowly 12-6 in a spirited performance against France last weekend in Falkirk.

Scrum half Samson retains his place in the team from that game, with coach Colin Robertson stating: “France didn’t score a point in the second half because we pressurised them. That means we take a lot of encouragement into the game against Wales.

“The fact is that we ran France close and if one or two things had gone our way in the second half then it may have been a different story. It goes back to the need for us to put together an 80-minute performance, and that is what we have been focusing on ahead of the Wales match.”
