| Newcastle Falcons fly half Rob Miller kept England Under-20s on course for a Grand Slam, as they defeated their Scottish counterparts 41-15 in Falkirk. |
Miller, making his first start after coming on as a replacement in the victory over France two weeks ago, kicked two conversions and spearheaded the England back line in an emphatic performance.
“We’re away from home and we’ve scored 40 points even though we were down to 14 men for more than 40 minutes, so we have to be delighted,” said England coach Mark Mapletoft.
“We’re a positive unit and at the start of the week we said that we wanted to raise the bar, not get distracted by the possibility of a Grand Slam game to come against Ireland."
The Scotland team on the night included Falcons scrum half Ross Samson and was captained by Newcastle flanker Lewis Calder, who scored one of Scotland's two tries.
Meanwhile, Falcons lock Peter Browne made his first start for England Students on Friday, as they hammered their Scottish counterparts 42-0 at Lasswade. |
