Newcastle Falcons centre Joe Shaw has been nominated for the EDF Energy Community Player of the Season, at the annual Guinness Premiership Awards.
The 28-year-old won the National Community Player of the Year award back in 2006, and has been the Falcons’ Community Player of the Season for the past five years due to his outstanding work in the local area.

Indeed this week he met Prime Minister Gordon Brown to highlight the work of local charity, Show Racism the Red Card, which recently inducted Shaw in to its hall of fame.

The Guinness Premiership Awards take place in London on Wednesday May 28.
