| Gateshead Thunder will play their crucial Co-operative National League 2 Rugby League game against Doncaster at Kingston Park on Sunday 24th August, kick off 3pm. |
With both sides only having lost once each so far this season and Thunder currently at the top of the table the game is already shaping up to be one of the defining games of the season.
Thunder are hoping that with the switch of venue, a day of entertainment featuring a touch rugby festival and the importance of the game that their biggest crowd for years will be achieved.
Falcons' Micky Ward was on hand to welcome Thunder player Kevin Neighbour to Kingston Park to launch the game.
Ward commented: "I'm a big fan of rugby league and it's tremendous to see the Thunder doing so well this season. It's all the more pleasing for me as several of the players, like Kevin, are from Wallsend. They have a tough game agaianst Doncaster on the 24th but I'm sure that with a big Kingston Park crowd behind them they will rise to the occasion."
Neighbour, who set a new Thunder club record of 158 appearances in sunday's win over Blackpool added: "It's great news that we are able to bring Rugby League to Kingston Park. The facilities here are fantastic and it's sure to be a huge game for both ourselves and Doncaster.
"We are going really well at the minute and confidence is high, so those that come along are sure to see some fantastic Rugby League. However, Doncaster are coached by a Rugby League legend in Ellery Hanley, so they'll be ready to go."
Tickets for the game are priced at £10 for adults and £5 for juniors and are available by ringing 0871 226 60 60 or from the shop during the week. Falcons 2008/09 season ticket holders can purchase tickets for the discounted price of £8. |
