| Newcastle Falcons Community Foundation are pleased to announce a whole weekend of sun, surf and rugby at the Beach Touch Rugby competition on Saturday 26th July and Sunday 27th July. |
Get the summer started with the festival which will be held at Tynemouth Longsands Beach. The weekend is supported by o2 and will be a great experience for rugby beginners and rugby enthusiasts.
Saturday is pitch up and play where anyone can join in and experience rugby taster sessions from 12:00 pm until 5:00pm. With Falcons coaches lending their expertise, those who would like to try a taster session can come along and get involved.
Sunday begins with the Beach Touch competition beginning at 1:00pm until 6:00 pm. There will be approximately thirty teams involved who will play in six groups with quarter finals, semi-finals and a final to follow. There are six in a team (ten in a squad) and each team needs to have at least two members of each sex. The cost is £50.
In addition to the competition there will be a live band, big screen, inflatables and street entertainment. It promises to be a great weekend of fun, sun and rugby.
All proceeds from the Beach Touch festival go to Newcastle Falcons Community Foundation to help people across the region harness the power of rugby to improve their education, motivation and aspiration.
