| Newcastle and England centre Jamie Noon is over the half-way mark in his trans-Pennine bike ride, as he cycles coast to coast for the British Heart Foundation. |
Noon has raised over £6,700 so far, as he forms part of a five-man group cycling an undulating 210-mile course from St Bees in Cumbria to his home town of Whitby.
Wednesday's schedule sees the group tackle a 65-mile course over the Yorkshire Moors, taking in the town of Richmond in the third stage of their four-day ride.
Speaking ahead of Wednesday's departure, Noon said: "Today is a real toughy, 65 miles up and down the hills.
"It's been an exhausting ride so far, but we're now past half way and the lads are in good spirits. I managed to boost morale by launching myself in to a peat bog en-route, which everyone else found very amusing, and now it's just a case of head down and crack on for the finish line.
"The support we have received along the way has been tremendous, and through my website nearly £7,000 has been raised thanks to the kindness of those who have donated, many from within the rugby community.
"Having met our initial target we are now pushing on to raise a total of £10,000, and there is still plenty of time to donate by logging on to www.justgiving.com/jamienoon . The money is going to a great cause, and once again we thank everyone who has sponsored us so far." |
