| Newcastle Falcons boss Steve Bates took fans' questions on Tuesday night at Kingston Park, in the first Supporters' Club Q&A of the season. |
The director of rugby spent over two hours answering questions from the floor, as club and supporters alike look forward to the new campaign.
Bates fielded questions on the new laws, the team's preparation and expectations for the new season, the decision to withdraw from the Guinness A League, salary cap, summer recruitment, the Falcons academy, Friday's match against Western Force and the global season among other topics.
The former England scrum half also revealed comeback schedules for Jonny Wilkinson and Jamie Noon, as well as some team selection issues ahead of Sunday's friendly at Leeds Carnegie.
“It is always very enjoyable to hear the views of our supporters, and to take their questions,” said Bates.
“We covered a good few topics tonight, and evenings like this are important both from a club and a supporter perspective going in to the new season. We know what fantastic backing we receive from our fans, and hopefully with the answers to the questions put to me tonight we have gone some way to explaining our plans and ambitions for the upcoming season.” |
