| Premier Rugby, Guinness and ITV yesterday jointly announce a deal that will bring the Guinness Premiership to more viewers than ever before. |
The agreement will include the launch of a new hour-long weekly Guinness Premiership highlights show on ITV 4 at 18.30 on Sunday evenings, covering all 22 rounds of the new season, the Guinness Premiership semi-final and final.
The show, hosted by Craig Doyle will be repeated on ITV1 on Tuesday nights, bringing in an even wider audience to strengthen the existing TV exposure of the Guinness Premiership.
With rugby and the Guinness Premiership increasingly growing in popularity, the new show will help satisfy the millions of rugby fans who want to catch up on the weekly action.
Lee Bailey, sponsorship manager, from Guinness said: “This is fantastic news for Guinness but even better news for rugby fans up and down the country.
"The popularity of the Guinness Premiership is on the increase and we are delighted that we have been able to work with ITV to ensure that fans can get a timely weekly highlights fix of all of the weekend’s action. We are looking forward to working with ITV across the forthcoming season, which I’m sure will bring some very exciting rugby.”
Jon Varney, Commercial Director at Premier Rugby said: “We are very excited about this new partnership with ITV at an exciting time for the game in England. I am grateful to Sky for their help in making this deal possible, but also to Guinness for their broadcast sponsorship of the show. It’s a great boost on the eve of a new season.”
Mark Sharman, ITV Director of News and Sport, said: “It’s fantastic to have secured this deal to broadcast highlights of the Guinness Premiership on ITV4. Top flight Rugby is an exciting made-for-television sport and we’re delighted to give it a regular one-hour show on Sunday evenings on ITV4, as well as a later repeat on ITV1.
"ITV had a superb Rugby World Cup in 2007 and we’re pleased that our rugby coverage will now extend throughout the year.” |
