| Newcastle Falcons back rower Alex Gray has been named in the England Under-18s squad for their upcoming tour of South Africa. |
Gray skippered England through an undefeated spring campaign against Scotland, Japan, Italy and Wales.
His England side face three matches on their South African tour, with head coach John Fletcher stating: “Development tours like this are crucial to the progress of talented young players at this age.
"Although playing in the Five Nations Festival is hugely important, players also need to compete against the Southern Hemisphere teams as well. They are some of the strongest sides around and our players need to get used to travelling and touring as that is what happens in international rugby.
“This is without doubt going to be a very demanding tour. South African youth and age grade rugby is as good as any in the world, and their school and academy structures are very strong.”
