Academy Manager
Richard Metcalf
Richard worked for SportsCoach UK as a Coach Development Officer before joining the academy in October 2006. His previous roles include coaching the North of England U18's and working for the RFU as a Rugby Development Officer, where he helped set-up the Club Cumbria concept. Richard looked after the Junior Academy in Cumbria before joining the backroom staff at the club on a full-time basis.

Assistant Academy Manager
Ian Peel
Having played over 100 games for the first team, Ian joined the coaching staff in 2006 as assistant Academy Manager. He currently holds an RFU Level 3 Coaching Certificate and alongside his academy role he also coaches the first team, working specifically with the forwards.

Junior Academy Manager
Mark Laycock
Mark joined the academy in October 2006 after working part-time as a CRC and RUSLO for the RFU whilst completing his MA in Management. He studied Environmental Development at Durham University and has played for the Falcons Academy for 6 years.

Academy Physiotherapist
Rob Bowen
Rob started working full-time with the academy in 2006 after completing his service in the RAF as an engineer. He had previously worked part-time for the club and as well as being physiotherapist for the RAF and Combined Services rugby team.

Academy Conditioning Coach
Mark Wilkinson
Mark studied a Sports Science degree at Staffordshire University and joined the academy as strength and conditioning coach in 2001. He signed for the first team as a player in 2002 and having hung up his boots he has now returned to a coaching role with the academy.
